Introduction to pattern bingo

There are many different of playing the classic game and bingo, and you do not have to be restricted to the same old winning patterns. If you ever gave bingo a go and then gave up, then check back again, because pattern bingo has made the game more unpredictable and more entertaining than ever before.

There are lots of different versions of bingo, with the main games being the 75 ball, 80 ball and 90 ball versions. Different regions offer the different games – for instance in the USA and Canada, it tends to be the 75 ball version that is most popular. This game offers the most patterns to play, and is considered to offer a simple but varied approach to bingo.

The 80 ball version is effectively a faster version of the 75 ball game, and offers very similar patterns to play. The UK 90 ball version can only offer a few patterns to win, because there are a lot of blank spaces and numbers on the tickets.

Popular patterns in 75 ball bingo

The most common patterns to win in the 'American' bingo are the horizontal and vertical line patterns. A blackout is also a very common winning pattern (this involves marking off all the numbers). You can also commonly see games dedicated to diagonal patterns, corners, big X (which are both diagonals).

Less common winning patterns include numbers marked off in the shape of letters or even animals. If you are playing these games live in a bingo hall then you need to be attentive to make sure that you are ticking off the correct numbers – this is less of an issue in online bingo games as you can set your tickets to automatic.

Popular patterns in 80 ball bingo

80 ball bingo is very similar to 75 ball bingo in having a small ticket where you can get fixed patterns. You can still get horizontal and vertical lines, again which are the most typical winning games. The centre square is another popular pattern to play where you need to get every number in the middle of your ticket.

The diagonal patterns and the big X pattern is also one to look out for. The cornered pattern (taking all 4 corners) is a rare pattern to get. The 80 ball bingo patterns are more likely to occur than the 75 ball patterns, so these games tend to be over much faster.

Patterns in 90 ball bingo

The 90 ball bingo typically only has 3 main patterns to win. These are the single line, double line, and the full house, which means all the numbers on your ticket being called. Whatever game you want to play, it pays to learn the patterns – it only takes a minute and it makes playing a lot more involving and fun. You will also be able to know exactly what speed of game you prefer when you play the different patterns.
