Introduction to playing 80 ball bingo

When people think of bingo, they are usually thinking of the 75 ball version or the 90 ball version. The 75 ball version tends to be the game that player pick up in Canada or the USA, whereas the 90 ball version is more popular in the UK and Australia. However, a new version is picking up interest, and that is the 80 ball version of bingo! This version of bingo is a hybrid between the 75 ball and the 90 ball version, and it is becoming very popular!

What makes 80 ball bingo different?

The main difference of this game from your usual bingo games is the bingo card that you select. The card is a 4 row by 4 column card creating a grid of 16 squares. This is known as a shutter card. Bingo players can mark numbers on their cards by sliding the shutters on the boards closed. Each time a bingo number is called out, a player can close the shutter board on their player card which marks that number off.  To make it easier to identify the columns, each column is a different colour, red, yellow, blue and silver. The red column can contain 4 numbers from 1 through to 20. The yellow contains numbers 21 through to 40. The blue contains numbers from 41 to 60, and the silver contains the final 4 numbers up to 80. When you decide to play, you choose a ticket to play, and buy as many tickets as you like.

You then wait for the bingo balls to be called on the call board. Your tickets are then marked off. If you manage to score a row or a column, then you win the prize. Another way to win is getting a full house. Occasionally, some bingo games will have other patterns that can win. Other patterns that some casinos use include Diagonal bingo, Vertical Bingo, Blackout bingo Big X, Four Corners, and Centre Square. Look out for special jackpot bonuses that you can win with certain combinations, or by getting a win under a certain amount of balls. These jackpots can be quite sizeable and are worth the ticket price.

The game of 80 ball bingo is faster then its siblings 75 ball and 90 ball, and is a favourite for those who like to get in as many games as they can. The balls are called every 2 seconds, so it only takes minutes to complete a game. Try the game today at one the many online bingo halls that host 80 ball!
