Introduction to The game of Bingo

The game of bingo was first invented in Italy around the 1500s, and has since spread through to France, Germany and Britain. The game then went overseas to countries that became colonies of the European powers, and still to this day, the USA and Australia still find Bingo popular.

The original game was based on a lottery, but was a posher way to play for the middle class. These days, bingo is open to everyone, and with the growth of bingo halls and now online. The game has developed its own unique variations depending where you play it. In the USA, the 75 ball version is popular, but in the UK and in the commonwealth countries, the 90 ball version is still the most popular. Although the name of bingo and the concept is much the same, the actual calling method and tickets are very different and should not be confused.

So what happens in a bingo game?

Bingo is a game of chance, and you do not have much control over what happens after you have bought yourself a ticket. As mentioned, each version of bingo has its very own ticket which is individual to the 75 ball, 80 ball or 90 ball versions. The 90 ball version consists of 9 columns, with 3 numbers to each column. The first column contains the numbers 1 to 9, the second column 10-18, and the third the next nine and so on. Each row contains 15 numbers, with the other squares being blank spaces.

When you choose to buy tickets, they are sold to you in strips of 6. This means that you are going to have one of the numbers in each column in a random order. When the numbers called you will always have one number called each time in your strip of tickets. If you are lucky to get the right combination of tickets called then you you might have a chance of calling bingo and winning the jackpot.

How do I get started?

When you decide to you want to play, you simply go to buy your tickets. Select the tickets that you want. They will become highlighted and you will have an option to buy them – once you have made your choice then you simply click buy and you have your tickets! The caller then calls out the numbers – depending on what casino you are at, it may be announced via a number display, or more classically the announcer calling out the numbers.

There are only 3 winning combinations you can get on the ticket. These include a line – which is 5 horizontal numbers, 2 lines, or a full house, which is marking off all 15 numbers on your ticket.

Even if you do not win, you should look out for the range of bonuses that you can get. Various bingo halls give you special deals on tickets and give you extra chances to win – playing online can give you a lot more options and you could be lucky the next time that you play!
